"The mission of the Flat Earth Society is to promote and initiate discussion of Flat Earth theory as well as archive Flat Earth literature. Our forums act as a venue to encourage free thinking and debate"
Very Similar to the Firmament Model, but without the religious undertones.
Shape of the Earth
Earth is a flat disk with an effectively infinite plane with the North Pole at its center. Surrounding the human civilization is an ice wall (commonly known as Antarctica). The Earth is stationary and does not rotate or orbit the Sun.
The Sun
The Sun is relatively small and close to the Earth. It moves in circles above the Earth. Day and night occur because the Sun illuminates only part of the Earth at any given time, similar to a spotlight.
Seasons result from changes in the Sun's altitude and the radius of its circular path, producing the apparent annual figure-eight motion (analemma).
The Moon
In some historical flat-Earth models, the Moon is self-luminous rather than reflecting sunlight. Some versions describe it as semi-transparent, crystalline, or ice-like. Lunar eclipses are explained by an additional dark object or "shadow body" passing in front of the Moon rather than Earth's shadow.
