The first part of undertanding any of the Flat Earth Models is Gravity. We can calculate that on our planet, things fall down at 9.8 m/s/s. Humanity can model gravity with extraordinary precision, but its fundamental origin remains unresolved. We can generally predict and measure the effects of this gravity phenomenon, but reasoning eludes us all.

Accelerating Flat Earth Model: Earth is gravitating upwards
This is a popular theory amongst the Flat Earthers that are newer to the community. If there is an acceleration of 9.8m/s/s going down, the first logical conclusion to be drawn is that the earth must be moving upwards. There is an established physics concept behind the intuition: the equivalence principle in general relativity.
For the Earth to be moving upwards at that speed, accelerating indefinitely, we would need to consider the energy and the time. If the Earth was truly encapsulated outside of the disorder of the universe, this could explain phenomina such as the universe infinatly expanding, creating the energy required for movement while allowing for space to travel. Unfortunatly, this model is incedibly complex and is not something that can be tested by our community.
Accelerating [ Space ] Model: Earth is stationary, space is moving
Similar to the Accelerating Flat Earth Model, the counter point shows that space is moving at that incredible speed while the Earth remains still. This seems less likely as we can observe that the other planets, which appear round, do not follow the same gravitational patters that we would expect given this theory, but cannot be completely discounted until this gravity force is more understood.

The stationary flat Earth dome model, as commonly described by Flat Earth proponents (including versions associated with the Flat Earth Society and related communities), treats Earth as a non-moving flat plane enclosed beneath a rigid dome (the “firmament”), with all observable celestial motion occurring within or on this enclosed system.
As the official Flat Earth Society believes, and the theory that most Flat Earthers tend to align with, is the theory that there is no mystical gravitational force that holds the planet in place because the Earth is Stationary and Stable in it's flat state. What people experience as “gravity” is either an illusion or the result of other forces acting on a flat plane.

Pocket dimensions and Space outside of Time
Within this framework, gravity is not a force generated by mass, but an emergent property of a confined pocket of spacetime whose boundary defines all internal physical laws. The Earth exists as a stable, flat region inside this pocket dimension, where what we perceive as “down” is actually the persistent direction of a universal acceleration field imposed by the enclosing structure.
Because every particle, object, and layer of atmosphere shares the same embedded acceleration, no observer can detect motion, even if the entire system is dynamically sustained from an external reference frame. This creates the illusion of a stationary world, when in reality the entire enclosed system is continuously maintained in a state of controlled acceleration at approximately 9.8 m/s².
In this model, falling objects are not being pulled toward a center of mass, but are simply lagging behind the uniformly advancing boundary frame that defines spacetime orientation. The reason life remains stable is because the pocket dimension enforces perfectly uniform coupling across all matter, ensuring that no differential acceleration can be perceived internally. From within the system, this produces an internally consistent reality where gravity appears constant, directional, and absolute, even though it is fundamentally a boundary-imposed effect rather than an intrinsic force.
In essence, the Earth is not held by gravity in space, but is instead sustained within a carefully maintained enclosed geometry where acceleration itself becomes the architecture of existence.
