God is an Alien.

Detailing the "Higher Power" argument made by flat earthers; referring to either God or Aliens of higher intelligence

I want to start off this topic by saying this: God is not an alien. I do not think God is an alien. I don't think that many others think He is an alien. The purpose of the title and the story/ discussion below is to mimic the absurdity felt by globe-believers towards The Flat Earth Theory.

Aliens vs Religion: Does it really matter who made the Earth Flat?

One of the theories about the Flat Earth is that it is flat because someone decided to make it that way. Either an intelligent alien species choose to create an organic matter carbon-based life here and thought that a flat earth would be easier to monitor, or a divine being made it this way to support this new type of life.

This particular theory does not gain a lot of support due to the conflicts with both extra-terrestrial life and religion. But there is POWER in NUMBERS. Rather than fight amongst ourselves about which higher power made the Earth, we should be thinking of them as one in the same.

Someone is up in the sky watching us, guiding us, and occasionally answers our calls. Over 6 billion people in this world believe in a God that does exactly this. There are also people who beilve that the person in the sky is of another species.

So what if God is an alien? Would that really be so different? He would still be an all knowing, all seeing, caring figure that began life as we know it.

An Artifical Planet: Flat Earth Model

One of the reasons that the Flat Earth theory is not accepeted by the mainstream media is the distiction between our planet and others. Mars may be round, Venus may be round, but our Earth was not designed to be a barren lifeless rock, circling around in space. Our planet is different, we have LIFE.

If the world was constructed by a higher being, with the skill to bioengineer a planet, would they construct it to be a globe? Surely a flat surface is easier to monitor, to control.

We know about gravity, relativly speaking, but there are an unlimited number of unknowns in this existance. The effects of negative mass, stabilized spacetime membranes, higher-dimensional bracing, or some kind of quantum vacuum tension could be what scientifically keeps the Earth where it is.

The sky was often seen as a solid structure (a dome-like heaven).
Gods were responsible for maintaining cosmic order.
Natural phenomena were expressions of divine action.

Hindu Cosmologies

Some traditional Hindu cosmological models describe:

A central cosmic mountain
Concentric continents and oceans
Layered heavens and underworlds

Tthe concept of Mount Meru serves as the cosmic center in several traditions.

Buddhist Cosmologies

Traditional Buddhist cosmology inherited and adapted many Indian cosmological concepts, including:

Mount Meru
Multiple continents arranged around it
Layered heavens and realms

Christianity

All Christians believed in a Flat Earth until the Renaissance

Christianity emerged in a world where educated Greeks and Romans had already been discussing a spherical Earth for centuries.

By the time of Jesus:

Pythagoras and later Greek thinkers had proposed a spherical Earth.
Aristotle offered observational arguments for a spherical Earth.
Eratosthenes had estimated Earth's circumference.

As Christianity spread through the Roman world, many Christians inherited this Greek knowledge.

BUT in the bible, there are passages that say thing such as:

The "four corners of the Earth."
The "ends of the Earth."
The Earth resting on "foundations."
The "firmament" separating waters above from waters below.

Hebrew Cosmologies

In Genesis, God creates a raqia to separate the wateres above and the waters below.

Trabslation of raqia; Firmament, Expanse, Vault of heaven

Ancient texts describe water existing above the heavens. This was often interpreted as a celestial ocean/ a reservoir of water beyond the sky. In this model, rain could be imagined as coming through "windows" or "floodgates" of heaven.

Sheol Below---Beneath the Earth was often described as:

Sheol, the realm of the dead.
A subterranean region below the world of the living.
